ISO/TS 29001 defines the quality management system (QMS) requirements for the manufacturing of petroleum, petrochemical and natural gas industries. The standard has introduced in 2003 which emphasize the defect prevention and the reduction of variation and waste. It was developed and published as direct result of a partnership between the International Standards Organization (ISO) and the international oil and gas industry.
The ISO/TS 29001 provides global reliability and improved assurance for the design, development, production, installation and service of products in the industry sector. The standard has incorporated with ISO 9001, the generic quality management certification for all industries worldwide. In this case, the documentation for ISO 29001 standards differentiates between the generic and industry-specific quality management standards. Based on ISO 9001, the accepted industry standard applies to all organizations involved with the oil and gas supply chain.
